What an AI Audit includes (and what it doesn't)

"We should do something with AI" is where most conversations start. The trouble is that everyone in the business has a different something in mind, and nobody has put a cost next to any of them. An AI Audit turns those ideas into a ranked, costed list. Here's what's in one, what isn't, and how to tell if it's the right first step.

Who we talk to

Up to 10 people you choose, from the founder to the frontline. Each one gets a short one-to-one conversation about where their week goes and what slows them down. The people doing the work usually know what needs fixing.

What you get back

One report, and a walkthrough call to go through it. The report has four parts:

How each idea gets ranked

Every idea gets an impact score, an effort score and a cost. The build order then starts with any foundation other tools depend on, such as a Business Brain, and moves on to the quick wins with high impact and low effort.

What it doesn't cover

It's an audit of your opportunities, not of your systems. It isn't a cybersecurity audit and it doesn't grade your IT. Signing up for one doesn't commit you to a build either.

The Roadmap looks further ahead

The AI Audit suits a team that wants to start building soon. The AI Opportunity Roadmap suits a leadership team that needs a 12-month direction, with a governance review included.

What it costs

$2,500 +GST, fixed, and usually delivered in 7 to 14 days. If you start a build with us within 30 days, the fee is credited to it.

The difference

You come away with an order to build in, not a grade.

An audit is a good fit if

  1. You've got more AI ideas than time to test them
  2. You want to start building soon
  3. You can give us time with up to 10 people
  4. You want a cost next to every idea before you spend anything

A quick example

An illustration, made up for this post

A 25-person accounting practice has four AI ideas on the table: sorting the shared inbox, turning meeting notes into CRM updates, drafting proposals and building one place for everything the firm knows. After the interviews, inbox triage ranks first. It has high impact, low effort and the shortest payback.

Where to start

List the AI ideas people have raised in the last three months. If there are more than three and none has a cost next to it, an audit is the right first step.

Common questions

How long does an AI Audit take?

Usually 7 to 14 days, from the first interview to the walkthrough call.

What does an AI Audit cost?

$2,500 +GST, fixed. If you start a build with us within 30 days, the fee comes off it.

Do we have to buy a build afterwards?

No. The list is yours to use however you like.

Is an AI Audit the same as a cybersecurity audit?

No. It looks at where AI can save your business time and money, and it doesn't test your IT security.
